Fox Coaching Hits the Road

The month of June has been stellar for Fox Coaching.  We facilitated a Conflict Management Workshop for a global oil & gas company at the Delta Lodge in kannenaskis Country, Alderta.

then on to Atlanta to work with friend and coaching colleague Leni Wildflower to co-facilitate a coach training workshop for a group of truly inspiring leaders.  And finally, on to the "Big Easy", New Orleans, to attend the Leadership Challenge Forum.

Experiencing Karma

I think I recently experienced Karma.

I hope.

On a recent trip to Houston, I became aware of some commotion on the other side of the security check-in. While retrieving my belongings I noticed an elderly black man was being escorted via a cart. On first glimpse I thought it may have been Gayle Sayers. But it quickly dawned on me that it was Mohammad Ali. My fellow travelers near the gate we're clapping in appreciation. I did not. As his cart turned to take him down to the gate, he glanced up and in a moment our eyes met. I smiled. He smiled. I held up my hand in a wave. He held up him hand in a wave. And then in an instant he was gone.

Sitting on the plane on the way to Houston, I occupied myself with the Continental Inflight Magazine Crossword Puzzle. And there it was, 52 Across: Clay who became Mohammad Ali.

Probability

I would have thought that the probability of going on date after date would result in meeting someone where the attraction was at least mutual over an extended period. After the last prospects have come into, and now out of my life, I'm really glad that I'm not a betting man. Surely by now I'd be the guy walking down the Las Vegas Strip wearing nothing but a Portable billboard.

Well, now two more are on-deck: "J" from Chicago and "C" from the suburbs .

After the Fourth Date

Well, the fourth date with Cinnamon Girl (CG) was actually last week. We went out dinner with friends of mine. I broke a Cardinal Rule - don't introduce anyone to your friends unless its pretty serious. I guess I had hoped that CG was really interested in me, but deep down I did know that I was destined to have a "Just Friends" relationship with her.

This now leads me to the second part of this posting, which is to tally up my current dating on-line dating prospects.

1. CG: Just Friends. Too bad. Great personality, attractive, and an awesome body.
2. Lori: Haven't met yet, but have talked quite a bit on the phone. She lives in NY which may pose a problem. But what an awsome hard body. I know we'll meet, but I hope its soon.
3. Diane: Nice, but not really my personality or body type. She was definitely more interested in me than I was with her. It that "Chemistry" thing again.
4. Christine: There was defintely a connection, though the distance thing may come into play. I don't really want to go out to the suburbs to play.
5. Nancy: I really like her. She lives in a Near Western Suburb, which won't be a dating issue. I know she's busy, but it's hard to say how interested she was in me.
6. Catherine (1): A case where anticipation was better than the reality; the picture on the profile was defintely older. She had a real bad case of wind blown hair when we met. She never went to the ladies room to tidy up, and so through lunch I keep thinking that she looked like someone who just woke up or had just come back from a good shag.
7. Catherine (2): AFF Girl. I was just interested in her because she dissed me on another online site. I'm glad that we finally chatted. But the fact that she isn't being responsive means this is going nowhere. Oh well.
8. Mindy: Very nice, pleasant to be around. The only downside was the body type. I'd really like someone that in better shape.

Overall, I'd say that this is not looking good. 0 for 8. Maybe it is me.

What a lousy week

Well, let see? How was my week? It was pretty shitty. I made a major faux pas this week. At least my overly paranoid self thinks so. I was supposed to participate on a conference call, and take notes for my manager. Both of which I did not do. This was just the last in a chain of events for a proposal that my company is bidding on. It doesn't really matter that our response to the request for proposal was weak; I had something to do with that as well. But here I am sitting on the consulting bench, getting paid, trying to stay busy and be helpful. There is only so much looking at company business and technical documents, and playing with the application that one can do. The worst part about all this, after apologizing to everyone, I've heard from no one. I'm the kind of guy that likes instant gratification. Its not happening with this company. Sometimes I really do wish I was a Barrista at Starbucks.

After the third date

Last night I went on my third date with Cinnamon Girl. She is 39, tall, slim, red hair, has a great personality, is intelligent, and is able to hold a conversation. She is light years ahead of any of my prior dates.

Except for an occasional fix-up from friends, I should say that most of dates have come via JDate, Friendster, and Yahoo.

So what's the problem?

On each date with Cinnamon Girl, at the beginning, and at the end, we hugged. That's okay for date #1, and even for date #2, but on the third date, if she was interested in being more than friends with me, wouldn't she at least have hinted or made it obvious that she was interested in being kissed by me? I got the feeling that if I had attempted to kiss her, she would of turned her head. And then where would I be?

After last night's date, she indicated that she would like to get together again. So I think there will be date #4.
